NATURAL DYES, TEXTILE, INSTALLATION

"Dyeing Waters" is a performative artwork that explores the environmental impact of synthetic dyes in the fashion industry, offering a sustainable alternative using natural pigments. Inspired by the beauty and impermanence of red cabbage dye, the project encourages mindfulness in how we color our clothing.

Participants engaged in a ten-step ritual, from harvesting and cooking red cabbage to dyeing white socks. This simple, interactive process honored nature and highlighted the possibility of using local, eco-friendly dyes. The purple color, extracted from red cabbage, served as a reminder of nature’s cycles—fading over time but always returning with each new harvest.

By dyeing socks, participants not only created a personal piece of art but also reflected on the connection between their actions and the environment. This ritual emphasized the need for sustainable and conscious practices in clothing production.
