INTERACTIVE, RITUAL, PERFORMANCE
'Hommage to the potato' is an interactive experience I designed which took place on the event of the Veerstich-
ting with the theme ‘Lost in transition’. the experience included a guided meditation
by me, honoring the thing in life we take for granted. because the event was mostly about technology and innovation, I found that is important to first take a moment and realise what is already in our life. this ‘thing we take for granted’ was different for everybody. the potato was a symbol for this, because the potato is eaten all over
the world for 13.000 years and for many: taken for granted. some of the potatoes that were present were: ‘family’, 'shower’, ‘peace’, ‘pencil and paper’ and ‘my son’.
everyone receives a potato without seeing or knowing it is a potato
the participants explore the potato and go back to a memory of gratefullness guided by the potato
after the exercise the participants make groups of five strangers
together, while sharing their stories, they create potato ornaments decorated by all they are grateful for
