TEXTILE, GRAPHIC, INSTALLATION, NATURAL DYE, INTERACTIVE
The Madderatorium is an interactive installation created from white textiles which change their color to red over time and visits. The Madderatorium is a place to honour madder, a red natural dye. By performing a ritual - dyeing one of the pieces, guided by audio - the participant becomes one of the guardians of the plant Madder. During the dyeing of the garments, silkscreened text and illustrations become visible, a symbol for the story of the forgotten material Madder taking place again in the world.
